i was supposed to enter, but things came up and i couldn't film it, however i thought that the script was solid enough that i decided to still make the film, and it's turning out really great! we just shot it on Monday and i'm starting to edit it.

i just wanted to thank film fights for giving me the inspiration and motivation to really push me to make this film, which might possibly be the best film i've made so far.

So the submit page has been redone and redone and redone, and now I'm going to re-work it again, at least a little bit. I'm going to recode the entire process in HTML5, which means it'll work a lot better. It also means that it will work a lot worse for anyone running IE8 or earlier. Those of you that are actually using Internet Explorer, for gods sake, upgrade to IE9. IE10 comes out in a little over a month!

Things I will be changing:
1> Thumbnail upload will be AJAXified...you select the image, it will upload and appear without having to hit submit at the bottom.
2> Embed video URL will recognize those special youtu.be URLs, and if Justin approves, I will code it to accept Vimeo as well.
3> HTML5 will enable me to make a much better progress bar. No more browser incompatibility problems.

Now - I am posting this because I want to know if there are any other features that you are all looking for. Let me know what you would like for options on the submit page, and they will be considered and possibly applied.

OK! I've chosen August 16th-19th based on a rigorous algorithm that I developed. So the machines are with us, dear friends.

We'll be in sunny Los Angeles!

Our "in camera edit" challenge will take place at SIX FLAGS on that Saturday. We'll each be given the name of a RIDE as our inspiration for a short film that will take place within Six Flags. When the day is over and we've ridden some rides and made some silly films, we'll screen the films and decide a winner -- FF style!

We are going to start organizing how many people here in LA have couches for FFers to crash on, and what hotels are having deals, what airlines are having deals, who's road-trippin' etc.

But yeah, let's do this thing!

HELLO I'M NEW --- WHAT IS FFCON?

Thursday-Friday: People get in, meet each other, smile and have fun. We go out for a big dinner together and then hang out somewhere.

Saturday: We do an "in-camera edit" film - basically a sequentially shot film, like the movies we made before we knew how to edit. We all watch our films for the first time once they're all done, and we vote on a winner. We also put 'em up on FF proper. Then we eat and hang out again!

There's no fee or anything like that - people just pay their way out here, and it's a great excuse to visit somewhere new or somewhere cool and hang out. Can always come early or stay later and explore! In the end the idea is it's just cool to meet in person and make a movie together.

Episode 1. Main character dies within first 30 seconds and it flashes back to his days in high school during world war II when he lies about his age and enlists. but the day before he is deployed he goes to this fortunetelling/gypsy woman whom he sells his soul to for immortality.

Episode 2. He is deployed and faces the horrors  of war and the episode ends with him being hit by a mortar.

Episode 3. He appears at the house of his old war buddy 15 years after the war is over and begins to live their after some very dramatic story telling and yelling.

Episode 4. His friend is murdered and he goes to live with his kids
