Topic: If I want to encode from my source

What are your restrictions to size, of files when you go to encode for submissions.  The mpeg1 looks really crappy and I just want to encode straight from my source video. Besides I'll save the site manager some time , and not have to encode the files.  Also i'll need the Film fights logo to place before what i'm encoding.

I need to know the file size restriction that you allow.

So I noticed that you have WMV files,  What are the max bitrates or max file-sizes that you will allow?

And what settings for Xvid do you use?

OR:

Should I just encode an Mpeg2 with a higher bitrate for you to download?

Re: If I want to encode from my source

Submissions need to be in MPEG-1 VCD quality. I use the program TMPGEnc for doing such things, and it works really well.

Re: If I want to encode from my source

If we shot in 16x9 should we resize to fit in a 4x3 frame  or just encode at 432x240?

I'm asking about the mpeg1 VCD, because i'm getting weird blocky artifacts Not from mpeg compression, but because of the color that is used has a crosshatch pattern appearing across the entire scene.

Re: If I want to encode from my source

It's a true 16x9? Not just a boxed?

I would say ... if you could encode it as a 6-8 mb WMV and a 5-6 mb mpeg, that'd save me a lot of trouble.

a 5-6 mb mpeg,

that would be real hard for me to do.  with mpeg1.  How about a 5-6mb XviD+Mp3?

Sure, whatever works, as long as there's something for the MACies
